🎤 A Brief History of Eminem Marshall Bruce Mathers III , known professionally as Eminem , was born on October 17, 1972. Raised in Detroit, Michigan, he overcame a rough childhood marked by poverty and bullying. His passion for rap began early, and he gained recognition in Detroit’s underground battle rap scene. He released his debut album, Infinite , in 1996, but it wasn’t until 1999's The Slim Shady LP —backed by Dr. Dre—that Eminem gained massive national fame. The album went multi-platinum and introduced his chaotic, alter ego Slim Shady .
